Whale has over 70 year’s experience in the design and manufacture of water systems for leisure vehicles, so you can trust that this robust unit will provide many years of reliable service. An over-pressure relief valve provides protection and peace of mind, and the manual override feature allows the system to be drained for over-wintering or maintenance.
Compact, lightweight design
At only 10kg dry weight and with a compact 470mm x 385mm footprint, it’s easy to find space for the Rapid 13L in almost any vehicle conversion, be it a campervan, motorhome, caravan, boat, or any other recreational vehicle. And whilst the space taken up is minimal, this heater’s clever design means that it doesn’t come at the cost of functionality or efficiency.
Energy efficiency
The energy efficient design with sturdy insulation ensures the water stays hotter for longer, reducing the need for re-heating and saving energy. The low and high electrical heating settings allow you to choose between either a reduced current consumption or a faster water heat-up time, so if you are running multiple 230V appliances simultaneously and overloading the site supply is a concern, it can be useful to reduce the heating power to the lower 600W setting.
A 12V supply is required to run the control system, and this draws only 0.36A when running, and only 0.01A on standby, meaning there’s minimal load on your habitation battery.
Easy installation and control
Installation of the Rapid Heat is quick and easy thanks to the 12mm push-fit water connections and standard 8mm gas pipe connection. It can be fitted to vehicles with a maximum wall thickness of 47mm, and the generous 3.5m control panel cable means you have plenty of options for siting the controls in a convenient location. Whale have also neatly designed the control panel to be compatible with the CBE modular switch & socket system, allowing it to be integrated alongside other switches to maintain a consistent look and feel to all your on-board electrical controls.

Fast, versatile heating options
The Rapid 13L gives you the flexibility to quickly heat water from either a 1.2kW 230V AC supply, a 1.25kW gas supply, or the two combined, providing options for both on and off-grid water heating. So no matter whether you are on-site or parked up in the wilderness, you can conveniently access hot water whenever you need it. For further versatility, the gas heating can be run from butane, propane, or a butane/propane mix, and if you are using the combined electric and gas options it can provide water up to 70°C in as little as 22 mins (approx.), giving you super fast heating at the touch of a button.
